Overview: This virtual, highly interactive, 5-week program moves beyond the “core competencies" required to effectively manage and supervise your team and delves into higher-level areas of knowledge, practices, and skills needed to be a great manager or supervisor at your health center! Beginning with a review of crucial skills needed to hire, coach, retain and manage others, we quickly move to elevated learning to take your management skills to the next level.
Participants Gain or Strengthen Skills to:
- Lead and manage change (in even the most challenging of times).
- De-escalate and resolve conflict.
- Implement key decision-making practices.
- Utilize Behavioral Interviewing skills to hire the right employees for the long-term.
- Develop and retain motivated, accountable and results-driven teams.
Who should attend:
This program is recommended for managers and supervisors with a minimum of 18 months of experience
OR as a follow-up to the course “Core Competencies for Health Center Managers and Supervisors.” Please note: these are not prerequisites for participation in this training.
This training is open to KHCN and KPCA members only – up to 3 participants per organization.
Course Format:
Using the Zoom online conferencing platform, we replicate the “face-to-face” experience without having to travel! Throughout the program, participants gain knowledge and skills, work in large and small groups, participate in hands-on exercises, and discuss crucial issues to take skills to the next level to engage, manage, and retain health center staff. We also incorporate short, weekly implementation “homework” to encourage putting new skills into immediate action.

Schedule:
The “Beyond Core Competencies” program will be held each Wednesday morning from June 11 – July 16, 2025 (no class July 2
nd). This is a 5-week program and participants should plan to attend all five sessions (with reasonable exceptions). The specific dates are:

- 6/18/2025; 9:00AM – 11:30am EDT
- 6/25/2025; 9:00AM – 11:30am EDT
- 7/9/2025; 9:00AM– 11:30am EDT
- 7/16/2025; 9:00AM – 11:30am EDT
*Important note: Each participant will need a webcam to join this virtual “face-to-face” training (one participant per device). If access to a computer with a webcam is not available, Zoom has an excellent app and participants are able to join via tablet or phone with video capability.

Lisa Mouscher is CEO and Lead Trainer at Sogence Training and Consulting. As a popular and dynamic facilitator, trainer and consultant, Lisa works primarily with leaders, managers, and supervisors from Federally Qualified Health Centers and other community health organizations across the country. She brings her extensive background in management, training and human resources to her work and specializes in two areas: providing intensive management skills training to health center managers and supervisors at all levels; and assisting health centers to create and sustain a culture of customer service. Lisa is known for facilitating immediately applicable results as well as lasting impact to strengthen community health organizations for the long-term.
