MOUD Provider Champion Series
This monthly educational series provides healthcare professionals with practical, clinically relevant education focused on the treatment of opioid use disorder and related substance use conditions. Sessions will explore evidence-based treatment strategies, regulatory considerations specific to Kentucky, and real-world approaches to caring for patients with complex substance use needs.
The series begins with two foundational sessions:

  • March 10: Treatment of Co-Occurring Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder
  • April 7: Pearls for Treating Opioid Use Disorder Within Kentucky’s Current Prescribing Regulations
Additional sessions will be held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month through December 2026, with topics determined based on emerging clinical issues, regulatory updates, and participant feedback.

Presented by: Danielle Anderson, MD.
Dr. Anderson is a board-certified physician in addiction medicine with extensive experience treating substance use disorders in both academic and community based settings. Her clinical and teaching focus includes medication assisted treatment, management of complex co-occurring substance use disorders, and navigating regulatory and prescribing requirements while delivering patient centered care.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this educational series, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify evidence-based strategies for treating opioid use disorder, including care for patients with co-occurring stimulant use disorder
  2. Apply current Kentucky prescribing regulations to the clinical management of opioid use disorder
  3. Recognize common clinical challenges in OUD treatment and implement practical solutions to improve patient outcomes
  4. Integrate patient centered, team based approaches into the treatment of substance use disorders across primary care settings
 
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, behavioral health professionals, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of opioid use disorder and related substance use disorders.
