CHC Advocacy

Community Health Center Advocacy

The Kentucky Primary Care Association (KPCA) is dedicated to strengthening and expanding Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the Commonwealth. CHCs serve as vital access points for primary care, behavioral health, dental, and pharmacy services, ensuring that all Kentuckians—regardless of income or insurance status—receive high-quality care.

KPCA’s Advocacy Priorities for CHCs:

  • Sustaining Federal & State Funding: Ensuring stable funding to support CHC operations and workforce expansion.
  • Expanding Telehealth & Digital Access: Advocating for policies that increase access to virtual care in underserved areas.
  • Enhancing Behavioral Health Services: Supporting the integration of mental health and substance use treatment within CHCs.
  • Reducing Regulatory Burdens: Working to streamline administrative processes that impact CHC efficiency.
  • Ensuring Fair Reimbursement Models: Advocating for equitable payment structures to sustain CHC financial viability.

How We Advocate

KPCA collaborates with state and federal legislators, healthcare coalitions, and national partners to protect and expand CHC funding, promote value-based care models, and address workforce shortages. Our advocacy efforts help strengthen CHC infrastructure to improve health outcomes for rural and underserved populations.
